PLEASE READ THIS FIRST BEFORE POSTING

Proposed development ideas already in the pipeline

- A proper intro Video. to go with the new Cutscene at the start

- Race specific ship/station models for the Nochtal and Denovans.

- Further development of Raiders AI to have bigger raiding parties.

- A Neutral Shipyard in sector Beta 4 (run by commerce Guild to supply raider and neutral race ships to the market)

-Moving B5 and the gate a little closer together in Epsilon

-Lowering the visibility range in Hyperspace (a little more)

- Addition of other major and minor races of the B5 Galaxy...one by one..

1. The English Midlands accent Betty voice over doesnt work in a B5 context IMHO. If I recall TV industry research for English voice overs favours the Canadian accent as being the most accepted. The station male voice is much better...

2. I think you should try some more/deeper alpha blending on the hyperspace vortex texture to make it less solid looking from the sides.

From my bug post:

Found another draw distance issue. When I jumped into Epsilon Eridandi I was all pumped up and saw... nothing. Hunting for Babylon 5 was quite anticlimactic. I couldn't find draw distance control on my end, and I'm not sure if you guys got a knob for it, but if it isn't a setting that can be fixed you may wish to consider pulling the jumpgate(s) closer to the station.

I've had this draw issue in some other systems where I was unable to find the other gate(s)

Thanks for the observations

I like 'Helens' voice myself, but it is a personal preference of course. Either way I'm very grateful to her for doing it, nobody else seemed remotely interested at the time. We'll see how things go with voices and sounds...

Yep, the vortex does look very solid from the sides. It's something we have fought with for quite a while and I'm sure we'll have another go at for a further version, but not in a patch for this version I don't think

Helen has a nice voice you are right, and it would be perfect for character acting as an example. So as a development suggestion I would say don't lose her voice, repurpose it where it would work better like a station officer or ships captain.

Remember Betty is like a SatNav it should sound like a computer AI not a real person, Helen sounds like a real person. Difficult I know, difficult to provide constructive feedback on too btw..

The station voice is a Coputer designed voice ^^
TTS engine one of the best .. ah could sometimes be better
I like hellen and as savo sayed noone else was interested in doing that
had quite of fun doeing the insertion and works
im not sure if i wanna start the english voice again only for an accent thats not worth .. lets see some german and italian voices or other languages i atm dont know how much languages are possible in x3 tc but i think with the lang.dat the only numbered 44 and the point that a lang-file only have to be 4numbered and with -LNNN tells me we can do all want to be done
as long as we have enough actors

Overall I have very little but praise for this mod, amazing job, all around amazing. I already have stories in the B5 universe, but that is another thread. Suggestions!

I too experienced the "YES! Episilon System...wait, where is B5...oh wait, there are raiders attacking a convoy in B5 space?! Kill! Ahem...the draw distance on B5 needs to be considered...worst case, move it a little closer to the gate, just so that it shows up when you jump into the system. I'm on a pretty beefy system, and have every setting available to me maxed out, so a little off not to see it when I arrive. (After which, I spent several minutes recreating the season 4 intro flyby...then docking. Something of a coming home moment. )

Is it possible to name the Hyperspace nav beacons? Just so I can select them and have a general idea if I am heading towards the proper gate. (Brilliant job in hyperspace...1st time I jumped in and there wasn't a beacon immediately on radar I had an "uhh...I think I could get lost out here" moment. haha excellent work!

The nav computer voice seems to leave of the "J" in "Jumpgate", so every-time I select it it sounds like "Hump-gate - Hyperspace" I'd also suggest increasing the speed of the voice by about 10%, it sounds a little slow at the moment. (It does kinda grow on you after awhile, but I digress)

Other than that, some purely aesthetic things...make the lighting on B5 reflect the lighting on Epsilon 3 a little more, and put more of the planet in shadow (I know, I'm asking you to cover up some of that beautiful planet map!) some of the load screens don't quite fit as well (B5 paneling top and bottom doesn't work well IMHO).

seriously though, this is the best I can do by way of a suggestion, and I'm really nitpicking at this point. Absolutely amazing work.

The loadscreen with the B5 paneling is my erm... crime.^^ But i made them 3 or 4 years ago. So pleeeeease forgive me.
I just didn't have the time to make new versions.

Hi i heav follow Probs.

I Make a Clean Install of X3TC und make it up to V 2.7.1 but after the install of the B5 X3tc Demo anytime the game make a black screnn and back to desktop. pleas make a Install guid for super dummis

Moving on to new development topics.. Is it possible to have a moving light source as either a distant object or texture to simulate a nearby star?

Particularly with respect to the Epsilon sector and changing light/shadows cast on B5 itself?

I only got a few minutes play time and I have no major suggestions except;

Move Sinclair's Babylon project introduction to game startup and just have music on main menu. To me it seems to be one of those things that should only be heard once at the start. Hearing it at the menu every time could get irritating fast.

I will add more once I get a chance to put more time into playing.

In later versions could you change the Earth?I think its now a kind of wallpaper.Isnt it?Does enyone now the X-tendet mod from Reunion?There was an very great Earth,its like the other planets.Its rotatet and you can see the clouds changing.Would that be possible for the mod in the future?

Is it possible to make the hyperspace sectors only temporarily remember the location of the jumpoints. I say this because once you locate a jumppoint you can't get lost in hyperspace in that sector. Would be cool if they were treated like ships and could only be detected if within scanner range. Doubt this is possible though as they(jumppoints and stations) aren't treated like ships on the map.

Maybe a script that could wipe out the saving of their locations after you leave the sector. Kind of like a reverse of a reveal all objects in a sector script, this could wipe all objects in a sector, triggered by your leaving the hyperspace sector.

I'm not sure if that is possible to be honest. Syr3L is looking at something quite similar atm, so i guess we'll see.
One thing strikes me though, and that's how many of you want a mirror of the series(simulator) at the expense of a game. I bet if you had a perfect clone of the series you'd be board shitless or fed up trying to find gates all the time in hyper when all you really wanted to do was finish a mission or reach a sector to fight the shadows. I'm tending the other way to be honest, to make things as simple as possible and reduce the scripting overheads to a minimum and focus on gameplay.
Some of you want to get lost in hyperspace, what then? float around for an eternity? cheat? or load an older save game?
I just have yet to be convinced I'm affraid

You may be right about that now that I think about it. As of right now there is no story and we are just pretty much living in the game world and looking to occupy our time and for something to challenge us right now. I'm sure when the story and missions are in place it won't matter what hyperspace is like.

Eshh, I was a little bit grumpy last night
It's becoming a habit

We will work on developing HS to make it more interesting. There will be some HS sectors that are vast with no beacons at all....even the firstones might not recollect where the gates are if any...

One thing of note though, it's very hard to get lost in a game where u have maps and x,y,z co-ords on them. I suppose you get lost by not being able to find a gate to get out? So you know where u are but not other objects.

German is not my first language just so you know. But it is getting better each year I live in Vienna.

I am not saying I do not like the menu, it is fantastic and having Sinclair's speech blew me away. Just it strikes me as an intro video or game start introduction rather than for menu due to the repetitiveness. As an intro video it could be skipped or watched at leisure depending on the players desire. As a game start intro it would add uniqueness and stop repetitiveness. Also hearing the first few lines of his speech before selecting load game, makes it jarring.

Hyperspace is fine, though I do understand the feel to make it greater, they are meant to be vast distances and at the moment the sectors are small and easy to navigate. Though I just want to say I love the inclusion of the nav beacons.

Spicing up Hyperspace would not be hard when it comes to ideas, actually doing it is another thing, and probably time consuming. Hyperspace has many strange things, bizarre alien species (Crusade) live in it, , ancient Vorlon third space gate (And possibly other devices) float through it, locations such as the "Well of Forever" (Crusade) can be found after travelling for days off beacon and lets not forget many factions hide fleets/bases in it.

Hyperspace is amazing as is, well done. And if you make it better with any of those ideas, then even better!
