SAVOTW Moderator Beiträge 1523	# Thema - 21.05.2009 um 00:17 Uhr We are about to begin the process of adding basic sounds to the mod and we plan to start with the sector names. Therefore we would like 2 female voice actresses(1 English and 1 German atm) to record around 350 odd sector names. If you'd like to have a go or know someone who might please record the two samples below as .wav files and send them to me(English) or Amras(German) via e-mail, ICQ or another method. If we get more than one entry we will put it to a vote to pick the best one. Anyone who loses out in this first attempt would be welcome to do another voice like the station anouncements or something for the missions perhaps. I seriously dislike sound software, they always fail to do what they intend and they have hardly changed in quality over the years. Back in the day my old Amstrad could do just as well as that demo. Anyway, I asked my girlfriend, she speaks fluent German and English, but both would be with an Austrian Accent. Problem is she didn't say yes or no, she just laughed and asked if doing it pays. I will see if I can convince her to record something, but knowing her, probably not. SAVOTW Moderator Beiträge 1523	# Antwort: 4 - 25.05.2009 um 16:24 Uhr Well we ruled out computer generated for the sector names for the reason mentioned....we also have a few 'relations' we are trying to persuade to have a go...and Amras has asked over at Novo I believe...So we should get someone I hope, but the more the better. Err no it doesn't pay....sadly..unless your voice is noticed by someone else doing a proper game who might.

Syr3L Moderator Beiträge 162	# Antwort: 6 - 14.08.2009 um 17:04 Uhr Das problem an der tts-software ist, dass man nicht wirklich die sprachbegabtheit eines menschen erwarten kann, so hat zb ein mensch wenn dieser etwas liest, was er aussprechen soll gewisse eigenschaften, die buchstabenlaute richtig oder sinngemäß zusammenzusetzen (s ss ß sch etc) eine stimmsoftware macht das nur bedingt mit Sectoren in auserirdischen Namen (zb Z'ha'dum [Sahadum] sind für solche software kaum leistbar ... leider ich hab das zur genüge versucht hinzubekommen leider nur bedingt geschafft so das wir schließlich zu dem entschluss gekommen sind wir benötigen voice-Mitarbeiter. Nicht nur für den Schiffscomputer, sectornamen oder auch Stationsdurchsagen. Missionsbeschreibungen, Kommunikation etc überall wo man was gesprochenes hat ... wer will kann sich die daten mal anhören .. einfach die datei 00144.dat oder 00149.dat im Mediaplayer anhören (sie befindet sich im MOV-Ordner The problem with such a tts-software is the missing intelligent speech-skill a human have. Humans see the written text and the brain filters out the correct spelling, such skill is missing from those software (as example: Z'ha'dum). I've tryed arround many many hours, days and weeks to handle it but its nearly impossible for some parts. We need voice-actors, not only for ship computer and sector names. We also need mission briefing, communication and many many more! you can listen to those things in the MOV-Folder of the game its the 00144.dat and the 00149.dat. Open it in Media-Player and listen So i hope we can find much more Voice-Actors too ------------------ Beyond all frontiers - Lets write some history

SAVOTW Moderator Beiträge 1523	# Antwort: 9 - 06.09.2009 um 18:05 Uhr Anyone who wants to have a go at voice acting with us.....just record a few system names.Mars, Jupiter, Beta 3...and maybe one slightly longer one like 'Jump point detected' and send it via e-mail or ICQ to me, Spuddy, Syrel. Any attempts are gratefully accepted...were bound to use your voice for something..say a mission character. Even I'm probably going to do it..and boy do I hate the sound of my own voice! Thanks

Not sure that doing stuff for us will make u a star though You can either send it via e-mail to one of us, or through Momiji might be best? Once the Demo is out of the way I hope we can focus a little more on missions and storylines, making it possible to start specific voice recording
